Project Overview
Future Schools is a 24-month Erasmus+ KA220-SCH Cooperation Partnership in School Education, coordinated by Mersin Provincial Directorate of National Education. Having started on 1 October 2024 and lasting till 30 September 2026 with a total budget of €250,000, the project brings together schools, educational authorities, vocational education institutions, training organizations, and social enterprises from Türkiye, Greece, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.
The partnership aims to support schools in integrating sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals and ESG-related topics into teaching through the Flipped Approach.
Why Future Schools?
Schools are increasingly expected to prepare learners not only for academic success but also for environmental, social and technological change. However, many schools need practical guidance, professional development opportunities and adaptable learning resources to integrate sustainability into everyday teaching.
Future Schools responds to these needs by helping educators develop a shared understanding of sustainability, strengthen their teaching competences and create meaningful learning experiences that connect classroom knowledge with real-life challenges.
Project Target Group
The project primarily addresses teachers, trainers, educators, school leaders and students. It also involves education providers, non-governmental organisations, sustainability-focused institutions, local stakeholders and public authorities. Teachers will gain practical tools and training for integrating ESG and sustainability topics into their lessons, while students will participate in active, collaborative and practice-based learning experiences.

Building Schools Ready for the Future
The Future Schools project aims to support schools in responding to the rapidly changing educational landscape by promoting innovative teaching approaches and international cooperation. Through collaborative learning, staff training, mobility activities, and the exchange of good practices, the project helps educators create engaging and inclusive learning environments that prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
By connecting schools from different countries, the partnership encourages the sharing of expertise, strengthens institutional capacity, and contributes to improving the overall quality of education across Europe.

Throughout the project, partners will work together to design, test, and disseminate innovative educational practices that integrate digital technologies, sustainability principles, and student-centred learning into everyday teaching.
